MAYA, London

Located on Argyll Street in the heart of London’s West End, INCA is an award-winning Latin American restaurant and immersive entertainment destination, bringing together South American-inspired cuisine, live performance and theatrical interiors. Within the venue, MAYA offers a distinct late-night experience, transforming the atmosphere as the evening progresses into an intimate and vibrant lounge and club space. 

Inspired by the mystery and atmosphere of ancient Mayan temples, MAYA occupies the historic basement beneath the iconic London Palladium. The existing brick vaults provide a dramatic architectural backdrop, enhanced with exotic planting, carved timber detailing, Mayan-inspired decorative elements and atmospheric lighting to create a space that feels both hidden and immersive. 

The interior combines rich, earthy tones with luxurious finishes and tactile materials. Deep reds, jungle greens, burnished golds and warm orange hues create a sense of warmth and decadence, while bold patterns and statement detailing reinforce the lounge’s tribal-inspired character. 

As part of the refurbishment, PGI Contracts manufactured and installed bespoke booth and banquette seating, designed to complement the distinctive interiors and provide comfortable, luxurious seating throughout the lounge. 

The seating was upholstered in Clarke & Clarke Alvar fabric, using two striking colourways – Bordeaux and Raspberry. The rich tones add depth and vibrancy to the scheme, creating a bold contrast against the darker, atmospheric surroundings. 

The result is seating that feels completely at home within MAYA’s theatrical interior – combining comfort, colour and craftsmanship while contributing to the luxurious, immersive character of the space. 

MAYA is designed to evolve throughout the night, with its lounge atmosphere giving way to a high-energy late-night experience. The venue’s own bar, DJ booth, sound system and adjustable ambient lighting make it a destination designed for both intimate gatherings and late-night celebrations. 

For our team, the project is another example of how bespoke fixed seating can become an integral part of an interior concept, rather than simply providing a practical seating solution.
